Fred Ensminger is a native of New Jersey. Fred has a long and detailed history of commitment to both the economic and social fabric of New Jersey. Fred is a third generation Morris County resident with a family history spanning over 100 years in the Morris Plains area. Fred attended the same High School that his Grandfather, Father, and two children attended.
Fred's career in the contracting industry began when his father introduced him to the family-owned contracting business as a child. As a teenager, Fred was a young and eager study and looked forward to the challenges and opportunity that was presented by his Father's family-owned contracting company. Fred advanced quickly, first becoming a partner in the family business and then moving on to full ownership of the contracting company.
As a young adult Fred made his first home purchase. Confident, experienced, and willing to take a chance, Fred bought his first home, "a classic fixer-upper." Fred was young, but certainly not lacking in a basic understanding of construction technology. He was fully aware that his new home purchase was a "project of passion" that required nothing less than a complete, renovation.
Fred completed this renovation himself. In doing so he fully realized the personal sacrifice, financial obligation, and dedication necessary to be a real New Jersey home owner. Fred completed this project with pride in both his new home and himself. In doing so Fred developed an understanding and comprehension about "houses and their systems,' and homeowners, that he had never considered nor understood in the past.
There have been numerous renovations projects I have been involved with since, but none have provided the clarity and the sense of dedication that Fred experienced with having personally been his own contractor and home inspector.
Fred subsequently attended college here in New Jersey, completed several technical courses, and frequently attends continuing education New Jersey Home Inspection courses and industry related seminars. Fred completed a 300 hour state accredited course on New Jersey Home Inspection. The course was taught at a local New Jersey technical school and the curriculum included hands on training in plumbing, heating, structure, electrical systems, and air conditioning.
Upon completion of the New Jersey Home Inspection courses, as well as the required 50 mentored field inspections, Fred passed the New Jersey Home Inspection Exam. Fred qualified at that time to receive an Associate Home Inspector license. As an associate New Jersey Home Inspector, Fred was required to work for a licensed New Jersey Home Inspection firm under their supervision. After fulfilling the rigorous requirements of the New Jersey Home Inspection Company, Fred received his New Jersey Home Inspectors License.
Fred then dedicated all of his time to developing Educated Home Inspections. Fred holds a New Jersey state license in Radon Measurement, 7B Pesticide (needed for some termite inspections), Home Improvement Contracting.
Fred is married with two children. Fred's wife of more than 20 years, Terry, is actively involved in Educated Home Inspections, and according to Fred, my wife is my best asset! Terry also holds a New Jersey Radon Measurement Technician License. This allows her to place and retrieve radon test kits as needed for inspections or Radon Testing.
Fred takes pride in New Jersey and the residents he serves through his New Jersey Home Inspection Company. It has been rewarding to live in a community with continuity, as many of our neighbors grew up here themselves. We are involved in the community, and I was recently asked to speak to the local rotary club about the importance of a thorough home inspection. When Fred does find the time to relax, he enjoys traveling, salt water fishing, and in the winter skiing.
